Reducing Hunger

1 in 6 Americans–around 49 million—struggle regularly to put food on the table.

The Turkish Cultural Center of New Jersey in collaboration with the Embrace Relief and the Peace Islands Institute distributes food directly to people through delivery or community events, and to regional food banks and local pantries. Our volunteers devoted their time and energy to soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and community gatherings on many occasions.

We serve meals at Bergen County Human Service Center in collaboration with the Family Promise of Bergen County. Your generous donations to this campaign make it possible to serve meals as a part of the Family Promise of Bergen County`s Walk-in Dinner program to the people who are in need.

Every day of the year, a different group is scheduled to prepare and serve dinner at the Health and Human Services Center in Hackensack. Up to 150 people are served a nutritious meal each night. Many of the guests benefiting from the program are residents of the shelter. However, the program is open to anyone in the community, with no questions asked. Special meals are served on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Thanks to our volunteers and supporters, we serve Turkish food and desserts once every other month at the shelter for 150 people.

Also, this year, food distribution events are planned during the special holidays.
