EID FESTIVAL IN NEW JERSEY

Wayne, New Jersey – June 29,2023

A spectacular Eid Festival took place in Wayne, New Jersey on Thursday, June 29th, 2023. The Turkish Cultural Center of New Jersey, in collaboration with the Peace Islands Institute, Northeast Islamic Community Center, and with the support of the New Jersey Council on the Humanities, organized a grand celebration of this significant Muslim holiday. The event was open to the public with free admission, welcoming attendees from diverse ethnic communities.

The festival showcased a mesmerizing live Turkish music performance by the esteemed singer Ertugrul Erkisi. His captivating melodies resonated throughout the event, captivating the hearts of the audience. The delectable food stands garnered significant attention, offering a wide range of delicious treats that satisfied every palate.

Families in attendance expressed their utmost satisfaction with the engaging activities provided for children. The dedicated organizations responsible for these activities, such as game platforms, a jumping house, cotton candy stations, and face painting booths, ensured that the joy of Eid reached every child, creating an atmosphere filled with laughter and delight.

Mayor of Garfield Richard Rigoglioso and Congresswoman Sherril joined the community in celebrating this festive occasion. Congresswoman Mikie Sherril delivered a speech, commending the multicultural spirit of the event. She emphasized the importance of respecting and celebrating diverse cultural traditions within American society, acknowledging the enrichment they bring to the nation as a whole.

In his closing remarks, Executive Director of the Turkish Cultural Center, Erkan Ertosun, expressed gratitude to all the participants, volunteers, and supporters who contributed to the success of the event. Their dedication and involvement ensured a remarkable celebration of Eid in New Jersey.
