Turkish Coffee Night Istanbul

Turkish community got together with their neighbors, friends and colleagues at another “Turkish Coffe Night” on February 15th Friday night. Nearly 100 guests enjoyed the night at in Clifton. The papermade seagulls hanging from the ceiling and big Istanbul picture on the wall gave an impression as if the guests were having this event on the shores of Bosphorus. The night started with a warm welcome speech by Melikhan Turkileri The guests were served with delicious Turkish tea, simit (Turkish bagel), appetizers and deserts. Fahri Ozturk informed the guests with the history, culture and touristic places of Istanbul through a presentation. After Istanbul presentation the guests watched a video about how Simit is made. The guests enjoyed the Turkish and American songs performed by two students from the community. Ms. Angela Castro talked about her experience and impressions during her visit to Istanbul couple years ago.The night continued with a raffle during which 10 winners were given prizes. The guests enjoyed drinking the Turkish coffee while listening to Imran Baysal’s wonderful musical performance playing “Qanun”, a traditional
string instrument. On the way to home each guest is given an Istanbul keychain.
